Small Business Exporting More of Made In The USA

Small and Medium Sized businesses set records for the $ Volume of ‘Made In The USA’ small business exporting activity.

The results were reported in the Trade.gov blog called tradology. You can see a graphic of these results in the chart below.
In an article written by Greg Bell, a writer in the International Trade Adminstration’s Office of Public Affairs. He States …

“Exports, and the jobs from them, will play a big role in ensuring U.S. economic growth during the coming years. Expanded free trade, along with investment in infrastructure and human capital, will facilitate that growth.”

As a small business owner you cannot afford to avoid getting involved in the export market. The US dollar is getting weaker and weaker against the Euro, British Pound and many Asian currencies. This makes it cheaper for buyers in these countries to pay you US Dollars for your goods. In addition to having a Brand advantage (Made In The USA) you will also have a pricing advantage when you start your small business exporting efforts.

Highest Level of Exports on Record

According to the latest export figures from the Department of Commerce, U.S. companies are increasingly embracing exporting as a business strategy. In July 2011, U.S. exports of goods and services were the highest on record, increasing 3.6 percent over June 2011 to $178 billion. A significant portion of this growth was because of travel- and tourism-related activities. International visitors spent a record-setting $13.3 billion during July.”

Keep in mind that this is not just about International visitors. It includes manufactured goods and all types of after market items from aftermarket car parts to glow in the dark golf balls, to Made In The USA regional spices and barbecue sauces. Just about any thing you make can be exported.
It is easier than you think to begin your small business exporting success. Many small companies work with an Export Representative whose job is to find buyers in International markets and to arrange for payments in US dollars and to handle all shipping and customs requirements. This allows you as the business owners to concentrate on making quality products and not the intricacies of foreign trade.

Look at these results so far in 2011 …

“During the first seven months of 2011, overall export growth was up 16 percent compared to the same period in 2010. That increase keeps the country on track to meet Obama’s goal of doubling exports by the end of 2014 through the National Export Initiative (NEI).”

Many US Government Initiatives are There To Support your Small Business Exporting

Recently, Francisco J. Sánchez is the Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade … Had this to say about the exciting new Free Trade Agreements;

It was a good day for American businesses and workers … “Clearly, fair trade is good for our economic health and future. …  To set the record straight, here are some basic facts:

Korea
The U.S. –Korea trade agreement will:

Support at least 70,000 American jobs, and boost annual exports of American goods by up to $11 billion through tariff reductions alone.
Create new opportunities for U.S. exporters in Korea’s $1.5 trillion economy, the 12th largest in the world in 2010, based on purchasing power parity exchange rates.
Colombia
The U.S. – Colombia trade agreement will:

Generate new possibilities in the 3rd largest economy in Central and South America.
Reduce barriers to U.S. exports, spurring new opportunities for our businesses, workers, farmers and ranchers, thereby supporting more and better jobs for Americans.
Panama
The U.S. – Panama trade agreement will:

Provide new possibilities with one of the fastest growing economies in Latin America, expanding 6.2 percent in 2010, with similar annual growth forecast through 2015.
Enhance U.S. competitiveness by eliminating tariffs and other barriers to U.S. exports and expanding trade between our two countries.

Bottom line: By ensuring that the American people have a level-playing field to compete on in these three important markets, the FTAs would spur billions in economic activity, support tens of thousands of American jobs, and sharpen the United States’ competitive edge moving into the future.”
